ENGLISH release

Occupy Wall Street has launched a project to Direct Participation Abolition of Private Debt: Rolling Jubilee. This is a “bailout of the people, by the people” and consists of Occupy accepting contributions by some people and then buying debt contracted by other people. At its simplest, this is Digital Technology employed in direct action in service of the Citizen in need.

Developed in the United States, where the social media "user experience" is on average higher and longer than many of us here in Italy, the Rolling Jubilee project is an example of innovation in the relationship between citizens and power.

It 's the first time I've ever come across a project so disruptive in terms of content and at the same time so easy to achieve with the
technology available today.  Keep in mind that a project is not disruptive when simply introduces a technological innovation, but when this innovation disrupts the workings of a system.

They launched the first initiative to buy the debt of $ 50,000 contract to a group of citizens of a community.  All contributions go
to The Rolling Jubilee Fund, a nonprofit organization with a mission exclusive purchase and abolition of debt.

100% of the funds raised will go to the purchase process and abolition (a process that requires you to also support cost accounting, legal, documentation).

In keeping with its belief in the importance and role of transparency, any member of the Occupy family can check the progress of donations and the balance of the debt.  A full accounting of the funds received and how they have been allocated will be published on the site.

The wealth of content, the support of association and research institutes, the widespread presence and active use of  social media and mainstream press makes this project a unique Knowledge Management System.

Using this model, others throughout the world as well as in Italy can and will replicate behaviors, ideas, customs and transportation ... memes for a new policy.

As already happened with Occupy Everywere, Rolling Jubilee shows that not only the tools but also the behavior of people are changing very quickly.

The Jubilee comes from religious traditions, including Judaism, Christianity and Islam. A jubilee is an event in which all debts are canceled and all those in bondage are free. It worked in Biblical times
, the organizers say, and can still work today.

For example, a sort of jubilee has happened in Iceland after the economic crisis of 2008: instead of saving its banks, Iceland has canceled a percentage of the mortgage debt.  This confirms that debt a promise that can - and should - be renegotiated or canceled when circumstances require.

This is already going viral.  The contents, pieces of information and successes propagate as epidemics that we cannot control, and serve to show up the social and governmental processes that do not serve us anymore and enables us to build solutions that conventional methods could not see.

The strength of the “Altruist Gene” is in the replication ... it is up to us to choose to replicate content that has municipal utility, is consented to  and subscribed to by its citizens, and which serves the greater good.
